Living room

Double French doors open out from the living room (lounge) on to a west-facing balcony looking out over beautiful grounds.
The bedroom, the study and the kitchen have east-facing huge windows which overlooks the city. The master bedroom has a queen sized bed and fitted wardrobe. The study, next to the bedroom, has a sofa which makes out into a comfortable double bed.

Spare living room

Another convertible sofa-bed is located in the spare living room next to the lounge. It also turns easily into a queen size bed for you or for guests. We have most of modern conveniences: television, VCR, DVD player, computer, fax.

Some of the renowned world heritage sites: Versailles 20 km, Fontainebleau 55 km, Vaux-le-Vicomte 50 km, and the Cathedral of Chartres 60 km, are less than one hour freeway drive from our place. The Loire Valley and its world-famous châteaux (2 hrs) are excellent days-out. The green countryside of Hurepoix starts where Les Ulis finishes, and the regional park of La Haute Vall?de la Chevreuse with lovely sights and castles of Courson, Rambouillet, Dampierre, Breteuil, is downhill. see maps

Les Ulis - a Paris suburb - is situated 30 km to Notre-Dame, just off the A10 motorway (Paris - Bordeaux). This 25000 inhabitants town has a priviledged geographical situation : Orly airport is 15 km away, the T.G.V. Massy railway station is only 10 km to the north. The 'B' line of the R.E.R. - direct connection to Charles de Gaulle airport in 70 min - puts the center of Paris only 30 minutes away. The area contains the most dense concentration of universities and scientific organisations in the Ile-de-France (Paris and the Surrounding departments) - C.E.A., C.N.R.S., Universit?aris XI Orsay, the Ecole Polytechnique Military Academy.

The apartment is 15 minutes walk, across the park, or 5 min by bus, from Bures sur Yvette R.E.R. station with every 15 minutes service to Paris. timetable Typical journey times are: 32 mins to Notre-Dame; 42 to Gare du Nord - the TGV railway station which give access to the rest of France and Europe, and to the Eurostar for access to London; and 70 mins to Charles de Gaulle airport.
There are shops and a supermarket five mins walk away the apartment and, three times a week, an animated and colorfull market. The hypermarket and more than 100 shops are within 10 min of easy walk through the city park. All the major Paris attractions are no more than 30 mins away.

We have a car whith automatic gearchange, seats 5 in comfort, in the underground parking. A second one: old, but reliable - fine for day trips and local shopping is set off on a private courtyard parking. We are happy to trade cars and you can wander around or make longer excursions. You can be in Paris in less than 20 minutes at ... 5 o'clock in the morning. Frankly you'd be better of not driving in the Paris!

We are a family of 2. Dana was a biologist and Dan was a research engineer. Both of us we are retired now.

When we are on holiday we prefer to be in a comfortable home than in an impersonal flat in a hotel. We are not fond of organized tours and we like to experience the life style of other countries. We would like over the coming years to visit places that we have never been to such as Canada, USA, Central and South America and to places we have been to and loved Spain, Italy, and most European capitals. We typically take several weeks holiday in the summer and one or two weeks in May but we can manage some other seasons. We are also open to one week offers in European destinations very easily accessed by air or by car.

Exchange partners
Like you we care for other people's property, and will leave your place as we found it. Your home should be within 2 hours drive from an airport. If there is no easy public transport access, we would prefer to include a car in the exchange. We prefer to exchange with other senior travelers
